Project Description
OBJECTIVES:
- To ensure that the reception and accommodation conditions for migrants detained for illegal entry and asylum seekers in the Foreigners’ Registration Centre (FRC) are in line with international and national standards
- To improve working conditions of FRC staff, police officers and firefighters
- To increase safety of residents of Pabrade making the services of police and fire fighters more accessible
TARGET GROUPS AND FINAL BENEFICIARIES:
- Employees of border guard services, police, fire and rescue services
- Foreigners at FRC
- Local community, residents
INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES:
- Renovation of Pabrade FRC infrastructure: construction of a Multifunctional Centre for Migrants, a separate dormitory for women detainees, a reception building for foreigners
- Ensuring possibility to accommodate more than 680 foreigners of different legal status in facilities that meet all standards providing access to more than 5 000 m2 of space: new living rooms, renovated canteen, offices for social workers and psychologists, sports, recreation and prayer rooms, large stadium, children's playgrounds and other necessary equipment and services
- Reconstruction of an administrative building with a modern extension, a technical store with police and paramilitary facilities, a canteen, temporary detention rooms, dog kennels, garages, and storage houses
- Creation of security and utility networks, landscaping and fitting the upgraded site into urban environment
- Adaptation of FRC facilities for people with disabilities and to the working needs of the state border guards, and relocated Pabrade police station, and fire and rescue service team on a constant basis
- Installation of new equipment and furniture for workplaces of FRC staff, police officers and firefighters
SOFT ACTIVITIES:
- Dissemination of project achievements via articles on national news portals, partner websites and during public opening event of Multifunctional Centre for Migrants
